Wadsworth Woodlands, Inc is located in beautiful Hiram, Maine. It is a multi-generational, family owned business that has been in operation for over 22 years. The company was founded by John ‘Jack’ Wadsworth who has over 44 years of forestry experience and his wife Elizabeth 'Beth'.
Their son, Nathan Wadsworth also manages the business.

Our foremost objective is to help you, the landowner achieve your goals of natural resource management through land management plans, and responsible harvests of your wood products; ensuring the greatest return on your forestland investment, forest health, and creating wildlife habitats.
Our foresters are licensed in Maine and New Hampshire; and we pride ourselves in being able to offer our landowners a wide range of experience, knowledge, and technology. We are always evolving and incorporating new techniques, but we are steadfast in remaining stewards of the forest.
We proudly serve small and large landowners and have written land management plans for over 65,000 acres of private land as well as for Land & Conservation Trusts in Maine and New Hampshire. We believe that good forestry practices begin with good landowner relationships, and that long-term sustainability is achieved through responsible resource management.

A little bit of History

The Wadsworth family has been a part of the Hiram community since 1790.
The Congressman and Revolutionary War General Peleg Wadsworth purchased 7,800 acres from George Washington and the State of Massachusetts in what is now modern day Hiram. General Wadsworth incorporated the township of Hiram in 1807 and devoted his remaining years to farming and local concerns. He is buried in the family cemetery at Wadsworth Hall.

General Peleg Wadsworth purchased the land for 12.5 cents an acre and 22 acres of this original parcel of land is currently owned by Jack Wadsworth.

Peleg Wadsworth was the grandfather of the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and Jack Wadsworth is a direct descendant of these legendary figures.
